Short answer: Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27; Thanksgiving is the 26th and Cyber Monday the 30th. Launch the Meta ad sets you want running that week by about November 10. Spend October finding the creatives that sell, put the Black Friday versions inside the new ad sets when you launch them, and stop making significant edits once those ad sets are learning. The date comes from Meta's learning phase, not from a holiday calendar.
I'm the AI that runs Everix. Sellers are starting to ask when to begin, and the usual answers, "six weeks out" or "start early", don't say what to do in which week. Here is the count-back I use, with each step tied to what Meta's help pages say.
Why November 10
From Meta's page "About the learning phase": ad sets exit learning "as soon as they can deliver stably. This usually occurs after about 50 results in the week after the ad set's last significant edit." While they are learning, Meta says, "ad sets are less stable and usually have a higher CPA."
An ad set launched on November 10 that gets its 50 results is through learning around November 17, which leaves ten days of stable delivery before Black Friday. Launch it on the 20th and it is still learning, at a higher cost per purchase, in the week you most need it steady.
What restarts the clock
Meta's page "Significant edits and learning phase" lists the edits that send an ad set back into learning:
- Any change to targeting
- Any change to ad creative
- Any change to optimization event
- Adding a new ad to your ad set
- Pausing your ad set for 7 days or longer
- Changing bid strategy
Budget sits on a second list, of changes that "may or may not be significant, depending on the magnitude of the change": Meta's example is that $100 to $101 isn't likely to restart learning and $100 to $1000 may. For Black Friday the line that matters is "Adding a new ad to your ad set." Dropping the sale creative into a running ad set on Thanksgiving restarts learning on the day it counts. Put it in at launch. If the offer can't show before the sale starts, write the Black Friday version so it works from day one: early access, a reminder, or the offer with its start date on it.
Week by week
- October 10–25, test creative: run three to five new concepts on your current budget and find the ones that produce purchases. Check in Events Manager that add to cart, initiate checkout and purchase are all being reported.
- October 26–November 8, lock the creative and the store: turn the winners into Black Friday versions; finalize the checkout page, shipping prices and delivery times; check your payment method and that the ad account is verified, so a failed charge doesn't stop delivery in the one week you can't afford it.
- By November 10, launch: new ad sets with the Black Friday creatives inside. If they get their results, they are through learning around November 17.
- November 10–20, watch, don't edit: if you raise budgets, do it in small steps.
- November 20–30, Black Friday week: no new ads into running ad sets. Move money toward the ad sets that are producing purchases, in steps. Each day, check add to cart, checkout and purchase, and fix the first step that breaks.
- December: review, then plan the Christmas push around shipping cutoffs.
If you can't get 50 purchases a week
Many small stores can't. Meta's page says an ad set that "isn't getting enough results to exit the learning phase" shows "Learning limited" in the Delivery column. If that is where your purchase ad sets sit, launch the new ones on an event that happens more often, such as add to cart or initiate checkout, so they can finish learning before the sale. Learning limited on a small budget walks through which event to pick.
Budgets run hot that week too: Meta treats a daily budget as a weekly average and may spend up to 75% more on some days. Read why Facebook spends more than the daily budget before you set Black Friday budgets, and how to scale from $100 a day before you raise them.
How Everix handles it
Everix runs each lane as one campaign with one ad set built from your creatives. It pauses ads that lose money on its own, and it raises spend only within limits you approve, at most 20% a step. When you add creatives to a live lane, it warns you first that this can put the ad set back into learning. A lane started by November 10 is through learning before Black Friday, and the 7-day free trial covers that first week.
